About Erica

Erica J Fletcher is an NYC based soprano and actor from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. As a child, Erica made their stage debut giving musical performances at family parties in feather boas and plastic dress up heels. Their passion for performing only grew from there, and they took the stage in dance recitals, choir, and countless musicals and plays throughout their years in school. They chose to continue to further their craft at Hofstra University, where they discovered a deep love for opera. Erica has recently completed their Master of Music in Classical Voice Performance at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.

As a Master’s student, Erica sang the roles of Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, Laetitia in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Theif, Despina in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Valencienne in Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow and Belinda in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. On the Hofstra stage, Erica sang Kaylee in Michael Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight! , First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and Hermia in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen.  They also appeared in many straight plays, including Phaedra (Aricia), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania/Hippolyta), Summer and Smoke (Nellie Ewell), Sorry, Wrong Number (Mrs. Stevenson), She Stoops to Conquer (Miss Neville), and We Are Pussy Riot or Everything is P.R. (Katya).

This summer, Erica is thrilled to be returning to the Oyster Bay Music Festival on Long Island, as well as appearing at Opera North in New Hampshire as a Resident Artist singing Carrie Pipperidge in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel and covering Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen.

Erica refers to opera as “the love of their life”—the immense gratitude and pride they feel to be able to sing and perform such incredible music is for them a joy like no other. They do their best to bring an optimistic, inspired energy into everything they do and, if you let them, they’ll probably talk your ear off about Dungeons and Dragons. They also do cosplay and attend a few comic conventions a year, but don’t tell anyone, lest they think they’re a huge nerd. They’re totally not.
